VAES Worthy Student Volleyball Tournament

Purpose: Have fun, enjoy some fellowship, play volleyball and raise funds to support the Village School Worthy Student Scholarship Program (this fund makes it possible for students to attend our school who might not other wise afford to do so.)
Location: Andrews Academy Gym – 8833 Garland Ave, Berrien Springs, MI 49104  2/24/18, doors open for t-shirt pick up at 6:45, play begins at 7:00 p.m.

Deadline: Players wishing to participate should register through the link provided by 2/11/18 to receive the t-shirt and no later than 2/21/18 for t-shirt just to participate.

Players: The Tournament is open to males or females with a lot, little or no volleyball experience. Concessions: Food will be available and the proceeds will go to our worthy student fund.

Teams: Players may form their own teams of of 4 players. When registering as a team make sure to sign up for the level of skill you think you should compete in.

Rules: This is intended to be a fun, safe event. While standard rules relating to point scoring, net contact, crossing the center line and general game play will be enforced, “form” rules such as illegal contact will not be so that players of all skill levels can play and have fun.  A link to the rules and regulations will be posted below.

Format: Round-robin play and a single elimination playoffs with games to 25 points using rally scoring.  Total number of games will be determined by the number of teams and success in the tournament.  Hopefully each team will get to play 3-4 games before playoffs.

The success of our tournament will directly relate to the number of teams that sign up. The plan is to have three skill levels that teams can sign up for.

  • “A” league – Sign up for this level if you have played volleyball for years, are very good players, and want a challenge.
  • “B” league – Sign up for this level if your team is made up of players with moderate skills and just want to have fun. Skill varies widely from beginner to good.
  • Student level – Designated for students in 7th and 8th grades only.

Unfortunately if there are not enough teams to sign up we will have to adjust and play all teams from the same pool.

Please make sure that your team reads through the tournament rules and regulations
